A CERTAIN SOMETHING embraces the idea that art shapes better futures. We do this by investigating intersectionality — a term first coined by Kimberlé Crenshaw to describe the interconnected nature of race, class, gender, orientation, origin, and ableism as they apply to individuals or groups. As Ms. Crenshaw noted, it is "through an awareness of intersectionality, we can better acknowledge and ground the differences among us."
